Cambodian casino operator Nagakov said game gross sales (GGR) in the first quarter were nearly triple the same period a year earlier, and more public market tables may be needed in the future, including consumer demand for game operations.

Still, a note from brokerage Union Gaming Securities Asia Inc. on Tuesday noted that VIP rolling chip turnover, reported in unaudited highlights in the first quarter by Nagakov following the November opening of its new gaming and hotel facility, Naga 2 (pictured), reached nearly half in the fourth quarter.

In an unaudited highlight of its operational performance in the three months to March 31 filed on Tuesday with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Nagakov said its overall GGR rose 180.6% year over year to nearly $243.2 million. That compares with an unaudited GGR of nearly $86.7 million in the first quarter of 2017.

Naga Corp has an exclusive license to operate casinos in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh and surrounding areas. It began operations with the NagaWorld property, and is currently connected to Naga 2 through an underground shopping mall known as the Naga City Walk.
